Being on the road in West Texas has given me the opportunity to stay in some really cool small towns. From Marathon to Big Spring each town has its own unique offering, and it takes some searching to find the best meals and watering holes. When I travel from Fort Worth to the Permian I always wind up staying in Big Spring. It is close to Midland but is less crowded, and has some unique restaurants and dives.
I would recommend that anyone who is passing through town visit the Hotel Settles, Pharmacy Bar & Parlor.
The bar is always alive no matter the night of the week. The crowd is always pretty diverse and made up of travelers and locals. The bartenders are quick to get your order in, and the drinks are always cold. They usually have about 4-5 draft beer options as well as a craft cocktail mix. Everything is moderately to high priced for the area, but the ambiance is one of a kind.
The bar also allows you to order food from the kitchen. I personally like the fried pickles and a chicken fried steak! It may not be the healthiest option, but it sure is delicious.
If you are planning on visiting Big Spring, Texas, make sure and stop for a meal and drink at the Pharmacy Bar.
If you are looking for somewhere to park your RV make sure to swing by Cannan Meadows, the prettiest RV Park in Big Spring, Texas!!
